Washington, D.C. – Today, the Co-Chairs of the Friends of Belarus Caucus, Representatives Bill Keating, (D-MA), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), and Chris Smith (R-NJ) introduced a resolution condemning the fraudulent Belarusian presidential election and calling for continued support for the people of Belarus in their fight for democracy.

As someone who comes from a family of police officers and served over a decade upholding the rule of law as a District Attorney, I will not be attending the inauguration this year.

Washington, DC - Congressmen Bill Keating, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Europe, and Brian Fitzpatrick, Ukraine Caucus Co-Chair, have reintroduced legislation that prohibits the use of federal funds to support or facilitate the participation of the Russian Federation in the G7. As Russia continues its full-scale war in Ukraine, this important legislation makes clear that the Russian aggression in Ukraine has long-term and irrefutable consequences.

Washington, DC – Today Congressman Bill Keating (MA-09) issued the following statement following the announcement of an agreement between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and the return of hostages:

“Today’s announcement of a long overdue ceasefire and hostage deal with Israel and Hamas marks a major turning point in what has been a nightmare for many families, including Americans, and the people of the region.

"The Lukashenka regime’s ongoing detention of political prisoners including journalists demonstrates the regime’s continued disregard for the citizens it claims to represent. This includes the arrest of an additional seven journalists last week as well as the extended detention of individuals like Ihar Karney whose only “crime” is journalism. More than 1,200 political prisoners remain behind bars in Belarus, and I reiterate my call for their immediate release.
