Serving You

Navigating federal agencies and their regulations can be very difficult. One of Bill’s primary jobs as a Member of Congress is to help you with that process and advocate with federal agencies on your behalf. When Bill and his staff undertake this process, it is referred to as “casework.”

Since Bill is a federal elected official, all casework must relate to a federal issue, for example, helping a constituent to obtain Social Security or Veterans benefits.

Members of Congress and their staff cannot order a federal agency to expedite your case or decide a matter in your favor. We may be able to help you get a prompt response and resolution, however.

Our staff in the Cape and Islands, South Coast, and South Shore offices is always available to answer any casework questions you may have. Below is also a list of certain questions to consider when seeking casework assistance.

ARE YOU A RESIDENT OF MASSACHUSETTS'S 9TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT?

If you are unsure whether Bill is your Representative or if you would like to find out who your Representative is, you can find your Representative in Congress by utilizing the “Find Your Representative” tool on the top right corner of the US House of Representatives Homepage.

DOES YOUR CASE INVOLVE A FEDERAL AGENCY OR MATTER?

As a Member of Congress, Bill is able to inquire of federal agencies on your behalf. If your case involves the Massachusetts State government or local concerns, however, you should contact your representative in the State Senate or House for assistance. You can find your local representative on the Massachusetts State Legislature page.

A few of the federal agencies that Bill and his staff work with include:

The Social Security Administration,
Medicare and Medicaid,
The US Department of Veterans Affairs,
The Internal Revenue Service,
Passport and Visa Affairs, and
US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

HAVE YOU COMPLETED A PRIVACY RELEASE FORM?

The Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. § 552a) requires that Members of Congress or their staff obtain written authorization before they can acquire information about an individual's case.
