Project: Ocean Research Facility Modernization

Project Description: The $4,000,000 in funding would be used by the the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute to rebuild and modernize the East face of the pier and associated research, testing, and berthing facilities to further enhance capacity. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it is in support of support of NOAA’s ocean and coastal operational, technology development, and data collection requirements.

Project: Quantum Microelectronics and Bio-Photonics Fabrication Laboratory

Project Description: This project will establish a Quantum Microelectronics and Bio-Photonics Fabrication Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth that will serve as the hardware foundation for its Quantum Research Initiative (QRI). The facility will operate in synergy with the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition Hub, the Massachusetts Shield initiative led by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and the National Security Agency-designated Cybersecurity Center of Excellence on campus.. This project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will support research vital to national security interests.

Project: Barnstable First District Station Equipment

Project Description: This project will fund outfitting the Barnstable Fire District’s new, state-of-the-art fire station with the furniture, fixtures, and equipment that will ensure the new station can provide high-quality emergency services to residents and visitors for decades to come. The new station is being designed with a 50-year outlook, allowing the department to responsibly grow into the facility as staffing levels and service demands increase. As the primary emergency response hub for the district, the facility will enhance regional response capability and strengthen the department’s ability to protect life and property. Investment in this project will provide the Barnstable Fire District with a resilient, energy-efficient, and future-ready public safety facility that is properly equipped to prioritize firefighter health, operational efficiency, and reliable emergency response for the next generation. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will support ensure that first responders have the equipment necessary to protect the community and provide emergency response.

Project: Gosnold Fire Equipment & Storage

Project Description: This project will provide funding to the smallest and most remote town in Massachusetts, Gosnold, modernize its fire and emergency response infrastructure through the purchase of a fire engine, acquisition of a maritime emergency response vessel, and construction of a new Fire/Rescue and Department of Public Works facility on the island of Cuttyhunk. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will ensure that first responders have the vehicles necessary to fight fires on the island as well as to support medical evacuations and emergency maritime response and protect municipal assets.
